Are you of the school of thought that thinks your bathrooms are the only rooms in your house that need a spring cleaning? Wellllll wrong school right there! Your kitchen is actually more vulnerable to the invasion of dust, germs, mold, and other forms of filth.
With all the numerous appliances we have in our kitchens, cleaning them all properly and in the right way may prove to be a bigger chore than you imagine. Well not to worry, the Morning Fresh team is here to help.
Soak a sponge in a solution of water and baking soda, then scrub every surface of the interior—vegetable drawers, trays, and gaskets included. The exterior of the machine can be wiped down with a traditional cleaner.
Microwave or Toaster Oven
Fill a small microwave/oven safe dish and place in it the middle of the microwave or toaster oven. Heat it for two minutes on high (microwave) or 10–15 minutes at 350ºF (for the toaster oven). The water will convert to steam, helping to soften the crumbs and burnt-on foods, so that you can easily wipe it down. Just be sure to unplug it and let it cool down before you start cleaning! If there’s a certain stench to your appliance, add a few lemon wedges to the water.
Fill it halfway with hot water, then add a drop of dishwashing liquid, cover with its lid, and hit blend for 30 seconds.
Add several tablespoons of baking soda to your pot, fill it with water, and run your machine as usual. Then repeat using only water.
Fill the kettle with a mixture of white vinegar and water, then bringing the solution to a boil and allowing it to sit overnight.
