A wedding is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life right? Well, most couples don’t get that luxury anymore, the pressure doesn’t ever get easier, more so if you’re a couple from this part of the world.

Tip 1: Have Your Family Cook if Possible
You could have a cooking team the day before your wedding where the cooks in your family get together to make their native and signature dishes. If you’re lucky to be from different regions/tribes, both families can make their diverse dishes for the guests to enjoy.
Tip 2: Serve Only Wine and Beer
Limit the types of alcoholic beverages served to just wine and beer so you will not have to pay for liquor. This will still give your guests who want to drink alcohol two good options to choose from.
Tip 3: Bring Your Own Drinks
When you book your wedding reception venue, make sure to ask if it is okay to bring your own beverages. By bringing yours, you will not have to pay the inflated prices that the venue will charge if they were to provide that service.
Tip 4: Limit The Open Bar Timing
If your reception is for 8 hours, consider only having an open bar for the last 3. Many guests will most likely conform to the “African” timing and arrive an hour or two into the reception. This will ensure everyone gets something to drink when they do arrive.
Tip 5: Compare prices of Plated and Buffet Meals
Compare prices with your vendors for the buffet meals in comparison to meals served per plate. Then go with the less expensive option.
Tip 6: Hold the ceremony at home, or outdoors.
Since you’re catering to only a small number of guests, you can pull this off. Renting a hall for your ceremony and reception can be very expensive especially in the prime locations. Instead, consider using your own home (or the home of a parent) for your ceremony, or perhaps a public park with a beautiful view.
Whatever the route you decide you want to take, make adequate preparations for your guests eg Cooling Units, Sun Shields etc and always research on the weather forecast for that season.
